Steve Fred Klostermeier, 79, of DeWitt, Nebraska, passed away on March 28, 2024, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on November 2, 1944, in Fairbury, Nebraska. Steve served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. Steve and Sandi Seeman were married on August 24, 1968 in DeWitt.  

Steve was a dedicated individual who led a fulfilling life. He started employment with Honnegers Feed Mill, Beatric Concrete then he was the Owner and Operator of Steve's Service in Dewitt from 1968 to 1989 and later worked at American Tool Company (1991-1998). He retired from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier (1998-2013).

He was a Life member of the Blue Valley Gun Club, Beatrice Gun Club, Amateur Trapshooting Association, DeWitt Community Club, American Legion Member since 1967, member of Hidden Acres Golf Course and a Board of Director for six years, a member of the Swan Creek Watershed Action Committee that was formed to expedite the completion of the Swan Creek Watershed Project. A member of the DeWitt Park Board to raise funds for the construction of the swimming pool and supervising pool operator for a few years. A member of the DeWitt Town Board (20 years total) and 14 years as Chairman. He helped organize the DeWitt Museum and Historical Society.

Steve is survived by his wife Sandi, children Steven (Karrie) from Farmington, MN. and Wendi from DeWitt, grandchildren Austin Barnts (Lauren), Chase Barnts, Zachary Klostermeier, and Baylon Klostermeier; brother Dennis (Priscilla) Klostermeier, sister-in-law Diane (Arlen) Klostermeier, sister-in-law Lanette (Kim) Klostermeier, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor R. (Chinoock) Klostermeier, father Emil J. Klostermeier, brother Kim Klostermeier, brother Arlen Klostermeier, and sister Glenna Oltman (Norbert).

In his free time, Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting, golfing, bowling, Nebraska Husker football, and any outdoor activities. His contributions to various community projects and organizations have left a lasting impact on those around him and the town of DeWitt.

A service to honor and celebrate Steve's life will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt, NE. The service will be Livestreamed on www.ghchapel.com. Interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in DeWitt with military honors provided by Nebraska National Guard and the DeWitt American Legion. Public visitation will be held from 12:00-8:00 PM Monday at the church with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 PM, and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 1:15 PM Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
