FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Crystal Springs Campground in Fairbury is adding more equipment to its playground this spring.

The new equipment features a rock climbing wall, a slide, monkey bars, and much more.

As for the current equipment, the old slide will be removed but the swings and other equipment will stay.

The new equipment will go south of the current play set.

Fairbury Mayor Spencer Brown said it was a push for grant money that allowed for the upgrade to happen.

“So the equipment is definitely outdated out there," Brown said. "It’s needed a facelift for quite some time. My staff and I, we have gone after a lot of grant money over the last three and a half years and this is kind of the fruits of that effort.”

Brown said he doesn’t have a specific date for when the construction will begin but he hopes for it to begin in the next few weeks.
