Jose Luis Hernandez, 21, of Plymouth formerly of Beatrice died unexpectedly on Friday, March 1, 2024. He was born in Hebron, Nebraska on June 26, 2002 to Juan and Amber Hernandez. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 2020, where he enjoyed playing soccer on the Orangemen’s soccer team. After high school, he joined the Marine Corp. He lived in Plymouth, NE with his dog Jax, and had been a former member of the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department. He was also always willing to hop in the payloader and help out around town, scooping driveways or roads and moving dirt, living by the quote “It Will be okay; maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually.”

Jose was patriotic and enjoyed things that went boom (fireworks, gun, tanks). He was always up for an adventure, and an avid lover of the outdoors, he could often be found hunting, fishing, kayaking, racoon hunting, or even out chasing storms. He enjoyed several hobbies as well, such as welding, building, photography,  playing video games with “the boys”, collecting glass jars or bottles found while exploring abandoned homes.

He is survived by his father, Juan Hernandez Sr. of Beatrice; mother, Amber Hernandez of Lincoln; brothers, Juan Hernandez Jr. of Beatrice, Fernando Hernandez of Romita, MX; sisters, Xochitil Herandez, Sandra Hernandez, Reyna Hernandez all of Romita, MX; step mother, Sandra Rivas of Romita, MX; grandmother, Aurora Vela of Romita, MX; grandfathers, Gustavo Hernandez of Romita, MX, Rick Markey of Fairbury; aunt, Teresa (Gary) Watson; uncle, Kenny Jensby of Lincoln; along with several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by grandmother, Cheryl DuBois.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Pastor Paul Carpenter officiating. A register book will be available to sign on Friday from noon until 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting relatives and friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family for future designation.  Arrangements entrusted to Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Beatrice.
