Zachary Allen Shumate, 35 years of age, of Manhattan, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born on November 21, 1988 in San Antonio, Texas to Jeffrey and Jenny (Palo) Shumate. Zach graduated from Fairbury High School in 2007. He earned his associates degree from Southeast Community College. Zach was previously employed as a dispatcher at the Beatrice Police Department and was currently living in Manhattan, Kansas with his fiancée, Abbie Busing and her children, Jolsten, Obie and Everlee. Zach and Abbie were expecting a child in May of this year. He was a body building enthusiast and a fitness trainer. 

Zach is survived by his fiancée, Abbie Busing of Manhattan, Kansas; children, Tayvin, Evan and Sophia; mother, Jenny Palo of Gilead; sister, Melissa Collins and husband Casey of Beatrice; grandparents, Dr. Matti and Mary Palo of Enterprise, Alabama; nephews, Grady Eggert, Tucker Eggert; niece, Lorelai Eggert; and other various family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Shumate; and grandparents, Daniel and Margaret Shumate.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 1, 2024 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley officiating. A register book will be available from 9 AM to 5 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice.
