Edna Marie Mason, 101 of Fairbury, passed peacefully at her home in Fairbury, Nebraska on the 16th of December 2023. Marie was born September 10, 1922, to Ed and Cora Coonrod in Mahaska, Kansas. She grew up on a farm west of Reynolds, NE.
At the age of 16, Marie taught school in Powell, NE and attended Hebron College and Academy in Hebron. She met her husband Louis Mason at HB Riley Ford Motor Company where they were both employed. Marie and Louis were married on May 16th, 1954. They were blessed with two children, their son Jeff and daughter Lori, and four grandchildren, Derek, Jenn, Dustin and Michael.
Marie’s profession was bookkeeping. She worked for numerous companies in Fairbury even after her retirement. Marie would even keep books in the evening at her home after working all day. Marie also kept books at the Air Force base in Fairmont, NE during WW2. She volunteered at the Fairbury Hospital (JCH&L) for 27 years up until October of 2023 and was a longtime member.
She also league bowled for many years. Marie and Louis enjoyed card parties every month at their home.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-daughter Bonice Hepner, and her daughter Tracy, sister Dorothy Patterson & husband Fred, grandson Derek Lindstrom, and 2 special friends Fern Snyder and Doris Graham.
She was survived by son Jeff & his wife Karen of Fairbury, daughter Lori and her husband Greg Nutsch, of Beatrice, NE, grandson Dustin and his wife Chelsie, Michael and his fiancé Dani, granddaughter Jenn Mason (Ryan Snyder), step-grandchildren Heather Hall and Julian Peck of Bellefonte, PA, Ryan and his wife Stacy Turner and family of Grand Island, NE, Anthony & Tierra Turner & family of Norfolk, NE, and her girls (pets) Sophie and Nia, numerous cousins, and good friends of the Methodist Church.

Burial will be Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Fairbury Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life  will be Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury.
