Johnny G. Rudder, 85, of Beatrice, died Friday night, January 12, 2024 at a Lincoln hospital.  He was born on March 12, 1938 at Beatrice, graduated from Beatrice High School in 1957, and attended college in California.  Johnny served in the National Guard from 1957 – 1961.  On June 3, 1962 he married Mary Lou Hubka at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice.  While living in California, Johnny worked for North American Aviation.  Upon returning to Beatrice he worked for the City of Beatrice for 34 years.  He was a member of the Patch & Powder Gang of Beatrice, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, Husker sports, and riding his motorcycle.             


Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Rudder of Beatrice; two sons, Tom (Nancy) Rudder and Jeff Rudder all of Beatrice; five grandchildren, Chelsea (Brian) Meints, Jamie Rudder, Michelle (Ryan) Poling, Stephanie (Tim) Crocker, and Dillon (Delaney) Rudder; seven great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Bentley, and Brecken Poling, Kinley, Tatum, and Emrie Crocker, and Kiara Creekmur; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Opal Marie (Hatley) Rudder; brother, Marvin Rudder; sisters, Shirley (“Knute”) Robertson, Patricia Vrtiska, and Delores (Paul) Dougherty.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating.  Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice with military rites conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the Beatrice American Legion.  The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until 8:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family’s choice.    Fox Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
