SIDNEY - Blistering cold temperatures were forecast during a wind chill warning through Tuesday morning in the Nebraska panhandle and southeast Wyoming. Counties in northeast Colorado were in a wind chill watch as of Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says wind chill values will be "extremely dangerous and life threatening," with the coldest wind chills expected Saturday morning through Monday morning. Wind chills could drop to as low as 60 degrees below zero north of the North Platte River Valley and 45 degrees below zero south of the river valley. 

The wind chill warning is in effect from 5 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Winds could gust up to 43 mph in Kimball, 33 mph in Sidney and 22 mph in Bridgeport. 

Record cold low temperatures are also possible in the Nebraska Panhandle on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings, according to the weather service. The NWS says overnight low could drop to as low at 30 degrees below zero. 

Dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. The weather service advises to avoid activities outside. If you must be outdoors, where appropriate clothing and dress in layers. 

A winter weather advisory is in place for southeast Wyoming from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday. Laramie and Goshen Counties could receive up to three inches of snow. Snow squalls are possible on Friday along the I-80 corridor, according to the NWS.
