Door glass damaged, at Gage County Courthouse

BEATRICE – Someone apparently did not like that the Gage County Courthouse closed early on Monday, due to a strong winter storm that hit the area.
"I came over at six o'clock in the evening and found out that somebody had broken the glass out of the south door. I closed it up with plywood and then I did look at the security cameras and it was a guy upset, I guess. that we were closed. He pounded on the glass with his fist...and then turned around and gave it a big donkey kick and broke the glass out", said Gage County Building and Grounds Supervisor Dave Jones.
Beatrice Police were contacted about the incident. Jones says the county sheriff’s courthouse security sergeant is also investigating and has an idea of the identity of the person involved.
The courthouse had closed at noon on Monday, because of the storm and road conditions. There are security cameras that monitor the interior and exterior of the courthouse.
Repairs have been made to the door. The cost of the damage was not given.
