Jefferson County police use search warrant leading to two arrests

FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office used a search warrant at the residence in the 1300 block of G St. Thursday, according to a press release from Sheriff Nicholas Georgi.
The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation into the residence and the occupants, leading to both occupants being arrested.
54-year-old Cameron May was arrested at the Jefferson County Courthouse at 1 p.m. for an arrest warrant for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
At the same time of the search, 49 year-old Jessica Evans was arrested for possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were booked into the Jefferson County Jail for the charges and an active investigation is still going on.
The search warrant led to Central Elementary and Jefferson Intermediate being in “Secure” from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. The decision was made by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department due to the activity around the area.
Students and staff inside the schools were allowed to conduct “business as usual” while bringing everyone inside during the “Secure.”
