Guard members returning from Kuwait deployment

BEATRICE - Last February, 99 soldiers in the Nebraska Army National Guard were sent to the middle east in Kuwait......after a training stint in Texas…. part of Beatrice-based Company C, 134th Regiment.
The soldiers were scheduled to return by the holidays at the end of 2023. Beatrice Mayor Bob Morgan says the members are expected to be back from that deployment this week. "When you deploy there are a lot of sacrifices that take place and I just think we need to recognize them when they come back...and they're going to come back sometime this week. The service members are away from their family...birthdays, anniversaries, those type of things. Having a son in the military who's been deployed a number of times, you really see the effect on the family. The spouse has to play a major role....almost back to a single parent as they're gone."
Troop C members of the 134th Cavalry Regiment deployed along the Arabian Peninsula as part of Operation Spartan Shield. A ceremony for their send-off was held last February.
"I think it's just phenomenal that first of all, we have the National Guard here....and second of all, 99 soldiers have sacrificed nine or ten months of their lives to be over in Kuwait, to make sure that our country is safe," Morgan said.
Morgan said the City of Beatrice appreciates all of the National Guard members of Troop C who have been serving their nation overseas. Beatrice is home to a Nebraska National Guard Readiness and Armed Forces Reserve Center…at the west edge of the city.
