Marlene L. Pittman

Marlene L. Pittman, 88, of Pickrell passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 surrounded by her family at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born March 3, 1935 in Adams to Louis and Mary (Agena) Schoen and was baptized and confirmed at the American Lutheran Church of Adams. On August 11, 1952 she married Charles Pittman in Nebraska City. They lived in Torrington, WY and Adams before settling in Pickrell. They had four sons, Dana, Mark, Jim and Chris. Together with Charles, they owned and operated Charles Pittman Construction. Marlene also assisted with the Homesteader pickup cover sales. She was a member of the Pickrell United Methodist Church and the Hilltoppers. She spent many hours gardening and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed quilting, baking cookies and cakes for her visitors, taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her caregivers Rosie and Sue. She loved her family and her cat, Babe. Marlene will always be remembered for her kind, loving, patient nature and sense of humor.
Survivors include her sons, Dana (Kim) Pittman, Mark (Ginger) Pittman, Jim (Rose) Pittman all of Pickrell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kirk) Zimmerman, Jeremy (Krystal) Pittman, Jessica (Jason) Cullison, Brandi (Lucas) Hunnicutt, Abby (Matt) VanLaningham, Ashley (Brandon) Pierce, Kate (Matt) Meints and Hannah (Nick) Bell; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Dissmeyer of Beatrice; and sister-in-law, Dora Schoen of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Schoen; husband, Charles (2015); son, Christopher Pittman; grandson, Matthew Pittman; brother, Lawrence Schoen; sister, Marjorie (Arnold) Schmidt; brother-in-law, LaVern Dissmeyer; and parents-in-law, James and Elsie (Winkle) Pittman.
Memorials services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Pickrell United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Kitua officiating. Private inurnment of the cremains will be at the Pleasantview Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. on Friday at the church. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Pickrell United Methodist Church.
