Dennis Lee McCourtney, known to all as Dennis, 64 years of age, was born on June 20, 1959 in Beatrice, Nebraska, and passed away on September 19, 2023. A lifelong resident of Beatrice, Dennis spent his 64 years making a humble and empathetic impact on his community. He was a lover of Nebraska football, a friend to canines, and an artist of needlework, always using his hobbies as a means to bring joy to others. Whether he was making people smile to brighten their day or selflessly offering the shirt off his back, what mattered most to Dennis was helping others.

 Dennis was a dedicated volunteer at the Beatrice Salvation Army and Humane Society, offering his time and heart for the betterment of those around him. For several years, he served the community through his work in the kitchen at Back Alley Eatery. His reputation as a humble and empathetic individual defined his role in the restaurant business, where he treated everyone he served with kindness and respect.

Dennis is survived by his brothers, Donald McCourtney (and spouse Jana) of Virginia, Dick McCourtney, and Dean McCourtney (and spouse Joni), all of Salina, KS, several nephews and nieces and extended family, along with his aunts Joyce Duitsman of Beatrice and Cora Tweedie of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick McCourtney, and his mother, Norma (Heckathorn) Darnell.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2023 at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place.
