New app created to help local bars find bartenders
FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Barback, a new app created to help local bar owners who need bartenders, especially on busy game days.
The app is simple; users create a profile, select the days they can work, and go from there. The only qualification needed is three years of experience or more as a bartender.
After a bartender comes and works for a day, the owner can even hire the bartender full-time if they see fit.
“Barback is a newly released app that connects bar owners and bartenders together. When a bar is short staffed or they need extra help on game days, specifically, they can go on the app and order a bartender,” said Sibel Jangir, CEO and creator of Barback. “All you have to do is post a job listing and then I have 350 local bartenders willing and ready to work. They can connect with them and they all have their own profiles so it’s simple. They can see their profiles before they allow them in the bar as well.”
Jangir said she created the app because of the shortage in bartenders due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With the shortages still prevalent in some areas, some bars don’t have workers to keep running.
She said she hopes that this can help local bars in Nebraska and nationwide.
“I’ve seen the shortage in the bar industry and the turnover rates because people start jobs, they don’t like it and they quit,” said Jangir. “Barback is a perfect opportunity to have a trial run for these bars.”
In small towns in Nebraska, Jangir said that bartenders are willing to travel from big cities to help.
Bar owners just need to send out a job posting on the app and it will send notifications to hundreds of bartenders who could help.
“Especially in small towns, for example, like here, there aren’t going to be 350 bartenders who want to work,” said Jangir. “If it is game day and you need the extra bartender, people are willing to travel from Lincoln to these small towns and help out and then go back home.”
The app is available now in the Google Play and Apple App Store.
