Collision near Gage-Jefferson County line injures one

BEATRICE – It’s a concern this time of year, with crops growing high and ditch vegetation exploding due to wet weather…unmarked rural intersections.
A collision at one such intersection Monday morning sent a motorist to Beatrice Community Hospital. The crash between a sport utility vehicle and a semitrailer truck happened at a gravel road intersection…..at Southwest 131st and West Lilac Road….a mile east of the Gage-Jefferson County line.
The front of a vehicle was sheared off in a collision with the northbound semitrailer truck. Beatrice Rural and City Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene of the accident, being investigated by Gage County Sheriff’s deputies.

There’s no word yet on the identities of those involved.
The call dispatching emergency personnel to the scene was at 9:25 a.m. Construction on U.S. Highway 136 to the south was reducing traffic to one lane…which may be directing more traffic onto rural roads around the highway work zone.
