Lincoln yard fire affects 3 houses, $300,000 in damages

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A yard fire in Lincoln affected three houses and five backyards on Friday.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue said they were sent to the 400 block of Mulder Drive around 2:20 p.m. on Friday for a fire in the yard of a house.
Officials said there were heavy flames from the sides of the houses next door. The fire was reportedly spreading throughout the backyards quickly.
According to authorities, there were dry leaves and several pieces of cotton fluff in the yard that the flames caught onto. The wind reportedly carried the flames to several areas along the fence lines.
LFR said the fire spread into the garage space of the home next door. There was nobody inside the homes when LFR arrived.
There were minor injuries reported to the homeowner. Officials said three houses were affected and five adjoining backyards were damaged. The amount of damages reported was $300,000 across all three structures and properties.
