BEATRICE – The discovery of some bones and other items near Adams, turned out not to be human remains.

Sunday afternoon shortly after four p.m., Gage County Sheriff’s officers were dispatched to an area east of Adams along Birch Road.

A citizen who had been mushroom hunting discovered some children’s shoes, a child’s toy and some skeletal remains in some trees, south of the road.  A deputy spoke with the person making the discovery and observed the site. The reporting party was concerned that the bones may be those of a small child. 

The investigator consulted with a Nebraska State Archaeologist….who determined that the bones were not human remains….but those of a small mammal.
