UPDATE: More information released about officer-related shooting in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A suspect has been hospitalized after a shooting involving police Monday afternoon.

According to Lincoln Police, officers were in the middle of an investigation in the area of NW 27th and W. O Streets at 2:45 p.m.

During the investigation, the investigators, from LPD and the Nebraska State Patrol, and a suspect reportedly had a confrontation. One of the investigators reported noticing that the suspect had a firearm.

LPD officials said both investigators fired their own weapons, hitting the suspect. The suspect was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.

NSP said no officers were hurt and they recovered a firearm a the scene. The investigators that were involved in the situation have reportedly been put on administrative leave at this time.

An investigation is ongoing.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said they will have a news conference to give any updates on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the LSO Headquarters at 575 S. 10th St.
