Units sent to grass fire along Big Blue River, near Beatrice

A small grass fire sent fire units to an area west of the Gage County Industrial Park, Sunday afternoon.

Beatrice Rural Firefighters were sent to the fire along Blue Ridge Road, about a mile northwest of the city.   The fire happened in an area next to the Big Blue River and did not spread to an adjoining stubble field.  

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.  The fire was off the south side of Blue Ridge Road in some grass near trees along the river.
