BEATRICE – The Beatrice Public School District is losing its Director of Buildings and Grounds to the University of Nebraska.
Roy Farrens was honored by the District 15 Board and administration Monday night. Superintendent Jason Alexander says Farrens will be taking a position that focuses on another of his talents…becoming a chef for the University of Nebraska athletes training table.

"One of the other many traits Roy is blessed with, is he's a certified chef. He has been involved in the food making process throughout the course of his career. At Chadron State College, he was the director of the kitchen there...at UNK as well...Wayne State....he's owned a food truck...he's owned a food business. And so, one of the unique characteristics about Roy, is he truly is a jack-of-all-trades. I've known Roy probably for about fifteen years and feel very fortunate to not only call him someone I've had the pleasure to work with who always has a smile on his face no matter how dire the situation, but also someone I can call a friend."

The district has is hiring Ronda Pieper as the new Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds….who joined the district about a month ago. Alexander says Pieper has a background in distributing, manufacturing, inventory and managing a large number of employees in Arizona.

Monday night, school board members and the administration also recognized members of the State Champion Cheer Team and State Runner-up Dance Team….at Beatrice High School.
