LINCOLN, Neb. - For the fourth time in school history, Johnson-Brock captured a boys state basketball championship, this time knocking off the defending champions North Platte St. Patrick's 46-40 Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Nic Parriott stole a pass and went all the way to the rim for a layup to put the exclamation point on the Eagles first title since 2019 with 3.9 seconds to play.

Johnson-Brock (25-5) led by as many as 13 and enjoyed a 10-point lead halfway through the fourth quarter. It appeared the Eagles were going to run away with the game when the Irish made their run.

Three consecutive 3-pointers from Sam Troshynski brought NPSP (25-3) within 42-40 and suddenly it had all the momentum while seeking back-to-back titles.

But J-B scored the final four points including Parriott's runaway layup to cut down the nets.

The senior scored a game-high 15 points and knocked down three big 3-pointers. Johnson-Brock led nearly the entire game despite being out rebounded by 13 and allowing 13 second chance points.

With the win, the Eagles set the school-record for wins in a single season. Troshynski led the way with 14 for the Irish.

Box Score:

Johnson-Brock (25-4): 12, 10, 9, 15 -46
