Fairbury Public Schools names alum as next elementary principal

FAIRBURY, NE — Fairbury Public Schools has its next principal for Central Elementary. 

At its meeting this week, the Fairbury School Board approved the contract for Jared Haag to become the district's elementary school principal starting with the 2023-24 school year. 

Haag is currently a fourth grade teacher at Norris Intermediate School. He is a graduate of Fairbury High School. Haag will take over for Patty Smith. Back in November, the school board approved re-assigning Smith from an administrative contract to a teacher contract for the upcoming school year. 

Haag and his wife Megan have two children Nadeane and Nixon. 

This is the second shakeup at the administrative level for Fairbury Public Schools taking effect next school year. Last month, the district hired current Fairbury High School Principal Sean Molloy as Fairbury's next superintendent following the resignation of Stephen Grizzle, effective July 1.
