Wilber-Clatonia, Fillmore Central, Thayer Central qualify for state dual wrestling championships

As we head into February, the high school wrestling season prepares to come to a head in Nebraska.
It starts this weekend with the NSAA State Dual Championships for the boys and District Championships for girls wrestlers.
The State Dual Championships qualifiers and brackets were released by the NSAA Monday. Three area teams will be competing for the crown in their respective classes this weekend.
Wilber-Clatonia is the top-seed in the Class C bracket. The Wolverines have a perfect 17-0 record in duals heading into the state championships Saturday, Feb. 4, in Kearney.
Wilber-Clatonia takes on the No. 8 seed St. Paul in the first round at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds.
Fillmore Central also qualified in Class C and landed the No. 3 seed in the eight-team field. The Panthers enter with a 13-3 dual record take on six-seed Pierce also at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Thayer Central is in the Class D bracket as the No. 6 seed. The Titans posted a 12-3 dual record this season and will take on No. 3 Twin Loup at 9 a.m. Saturday in Kearney.
The NSAA State Dual Championships are a one-day event so champions will be crowned Saturday night.

Girls Wrestling District Championships will take place Friday, Feb. 3, and Saturday, Feb. 4. All the schools have been divided into four districts across the state to determine who will advance to the NSAA State Wrestling Individual Championships in Omaha on Thursday, Feb. 16-18.
Beatrice's girls wrestlers will try to qualify for state at the A-1 District Tournament, which is being hosted by Fremont High School.
Crete, Dorchester, Fairbury, Fillmore Central, Johnson County Central, Norris, Thayer Central and Wilber-Clatonia all compete at the A-3 District Tournament at Lincoln Southeast High School.
Boys Wrestling District Tournaments will be next weekend — February 10-11.
