ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a Crozet resident on Monday.

According to police, the crash occurred just before 5 p.m. on the 6800 block of Dick Woods Road, near the intersections with Plank Road and Foster Ridge.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, identified as 36-year-old Francisco Javier Loya of Crozet, died at the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The Virginia Department of Transportation reports that Dick Woods Road is closed due to this crash, as of 8:50 p.m.

This is the 15th fatal crash ACPD has investigated this year, which does not include fatal crashes in Albemarle County that are investigated by the Virginia State Police.
