BEATRICE – A sport utility vehicle slid off a snowy Gage County road, Monday, injuring the driver...who had to be extricated from the wreck.

A Gage County Sheriff’s investigator says the accident happened at 3:13 p.m., about three miles west of Pickrell, at the intersection of West Chesnut and Southwest 58th Road.

A 2012 Chevrolet S-U-V driven by 29-year-old Paige Vilda, of DeWitt was traveling east on Chesnut Road when the vehicle lost traction on a snow-covered road surface.  The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled over, off the southeast corner of the intersection.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Pickrell volunteer firefighters responded to the scene and freed the driver from the wrecked vehicle.

Vilda was treated by paramedics at the scene, and then taken to Beatrice Community Hospital.
