Marvin E. “Red” Aden, age 94 passed away on December 13, 2022 at the Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln. He was born on October 14, 1928 in Barneston, NE to Martin and Tillie (Duden) Aden. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Wymore. He was a 1947 graduate of Barneston High School and completed five years in the business management curriculum through the University of Nebraska extension program. Marvin served his country in the United States Naval Reserve for five years, the United States Army for two years, and the United States Army Reserve for eight years. He was united in marriage on June 3, 1959 to Mary Ellen Day. Four children were born to this union: Debbie, Diane, Dawn, and David. In 1958, Marvin began a successful 20+ year management career in the mobile home industry until retiring. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, as a trainman from 1980-1991. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1077 in Beatrice and a lifetime member of the Barneston Legion Post #356 where he had served as commander. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Marvin was a humble, “gentle giant,” and was known for his kind and positive demeanor. He was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed dancing, hunting, and  playing cards. Most of all, Marvin loved his family and was extremely proud to be a grandfather and great grandfather.

Those left to mourn his passing are his children, Debbie Ragan and husband Ron of Plains, Montana, Diane Aden-Leonard and husband, Erik of Camas, Washington, Dawn Tasset of Fremont, and David Aden and wife, Dana of Scapoose, Oregon; grandchildren, Rhae, Elizabeth, Sophia, Quintin, Kristin, Miranda, John Henry, Christian, and Isabella; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Weyer; brother, Dale Aden; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Henry Aden.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Our Savior (St. John) Lutheran Cemetery in rural Wymore with military rites being rendered by the Barneston Legion Post #356 and the United States Army. Honorary pallbearers are Christian David Aden, Quintin David Leonard, John Henry Tasset, Ronnie Weyer, Daniel Aden, Andrew Aden, Darin Aden, and Rodney Harris. There will be no visitation or viewing.
