FAIRBURY, NE — A community event put on every year by Ol' Red 99.5 and local businesses brought in over $1,500 in donations.

This year's community Thanksgiving meal at the Fairbury Elks Lodge served 426 people between dine-in and carryout orders. While the meal was free, organizers asked for donations to help local organizations.

Community members gave $1,551 this year. The funds will be distributed to local nonprofits including the Hope Crisis Center and Blue Valley Community Action Food Pantry.

Ol' Red 99.5, KGMT and local businesses have partnered up to provide the Thanksgiving meal to the community for 22 years now. The event persisted through the COVID-19 pandemic, switching to a carryout only format for two years before bringing back dine-in this year.
