CROFTON - The Freeman Falcons were unable to pull off an upset in northeast Nebraska on Thursday night.

The Carter Ruse led Falcons took on Crofton in a 10-7 matchup in the first round of the Class D-1 Playoffs on Thursday night and it was the Warriors who took the win 40-20.

The Warriors jumped out to a multi-touchdown lead in the first half before Freeman finally found the end zone on a 38-yard touchdown passing touchdown from Ruse to Brandon Jurgens. Then Ruse turned a broken play into a touchdown when we found Carter Niles for a score after he dropped the snap.

The score at half read 34-13 in favor of the Warriors.

The third quarter showed goose eggs in the box score as neither team found the end zone. Freeman drove it deep into Warrior territory twice, but would suffer three turnover on down's. The game got a bit more interesting when Ruse would find Jurgens deep setting up a one yard touchdown run.

Freeman would score one more touchdown when Ruse hit Hudson Vetrovsky for a 6-yard TD.

Freeman ends their season with a record of 5-4.
