LINCOLN, Neb. -- A 22-year-old Lincoln man was arrested on Oct. 4 in connection to a fatal September car crash that killed one person.

The Lincoln Police Department said they arrested 22-year-old Dylan Will on Tuesday around 10:45 a.m. The single-vehicle car crash that Will was arrested for occurred on Sept. 5 of this year at N Cotner Blvd. and Holdrege St.

Officers said that Will was not present when they first arrived to the scene of the crash but he returned 30 minutes later. Will, later identified as the driver, denied being the driver when officers first asked.

According to authorities, officers interviewed witnesses in the area and were reportedly told that the vehicle was traveling northbound on N Cotner Blvd. The vehicle was reportedly trying to pass another car before it lost control and struck a tree.

LPD said there were four people in the vehicle when they arrived. They were transported to a nearby hospital. One of the rear passengers was 25-year-old Yousef Alwaeli, of Lincoln, and he had fatal injuries that resulted in his death at the hospital.

Will was arrested for felony manslaughter and felony fail to stop and render aid/leave scene of accident.
