LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department arrested a 59-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting and kidnapping a child.

According to police, Mensah Gozo was originally arrested for kidnapping and sexual assault of a child, but he is now additionally facing one count of sexual assault of a child and one count of child enticement.

LPD said on Sunday around 10:00 a.m., officers were made aware of a missing person case near 1st Street and Cornhusker Highway. Investigators said they learned a 12-year-old girl had left home and not returned.

Officers said they began searching for the little girl relentlessly and slightly before noon, on Sunday, the girl returned home to the area by Gozo. Gozo is alleged to have picked up the child and driven her to his home where he sexually assaulted her.

Gozo was arrested later on Sunday without incident and was lodged at the Lancaster County Jail.

LPD is asking anyone who may have had contact with Gozo to speak with investigators.
