Hebron man indicted on federal child pornography charges
A Hebron man is facing multiple charges after a federal grand jury recently indicted him.
A release from Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Russell says 22-year-old Joseph Martin was indicted on four total counts including possession and distribution of child pornography.
Indictments are charging documents that include counts against a person that are accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Authorities say the crimes occurred between July 12, 2021 and June 27, 2022.
One count charges Martin with distribution of child pornography. Another count includes a charge of transportation of visual depictions of minors engaging in explicit conduct.
The other two counts are possession of child pornography.
According to Russell, the distribution and transportation of visual depictions charges each carry maximum possible sentences of 15-40 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a 5 year to life term of supervised release after the prison sentence.
The possession charges each carry max penalties of 10-20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a 5 year to life term of supervised release after the prison sentence.
Martin was one of 26 individuals charged in the latest round of indictments handed down by a federal grand jury in Nebraska. The charges vary amongst the group from weapons, drug, illegal immigration and child pornography charges.
