BEATRICE – Beatrice Police were called to a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon on a busy North 6th Street, where a southbound car hit the rear of a stopped vehicle.

"Southbound traffic was stopped for the lead vehicle to turn into Casey's, here. While the lead vehicle was stopped, the red vehicle, a witness stated...was not looking up and drove into the lead vehicle."

Police Officer Joe McCormick said the female driver of the moving car was checked over at the scene by Beatrice Fire and Rescue paramedics and was not seriously hurt. No one in the vehicle stopped and waiting to turn, was injured.

McCormick says when Casey’s General Stores eliminated one of their entrances off North 6th, that greatly helped reduce the number of similar rear-end accidents with vehicles stopped waiting to turn in. But, he says police still see such accidents in that area, occasionally.

The accident sent police and EMS personnel to the scene at 2:18 p.m. There was no transport of anyone to the hospital.
