LINCOLN, Neb. -- A firearm, among other items, was stolen from a Lincoln home Tuesday night.

LPD said officers were dispatched to an address in the 7700 block of Phares Drive on a report of a theft from an open garage on July 6 at 8:40 a.m.

The report said the homeowners reported they forgot to close their overhead garage door before going to bed the night before. They said they noticed a vehicle had been rummaged through and items were missing from the vehicle and the garage after they woke up.

According to authorities, a black Glock .45 caliber handgun, two magazines, a holster, sunglasses and ammunition were missing. The estimated total loss is $1,095.00.

The Lincoln Police Department said they would like to remind everyone to ensure their overhead garage door is shut before going to bed at night to help prevent these types of thefts.
