One person killed when tree falls on house in south Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Emergency crews are on the scene after a tree fell on a home in south Lincoln.

A reporter on the scene from news partner 1011 Now heard officials telling bystanders one person was killed when a tree fell on the home near 27th and Manse Avenue. It is unclear how the tree fell. However, initial dispatch reports indicated it caused the home’s chimney to collapse into the home.

The 911 call came in Thursday shortly after 1 p.m. Several fire trucks, an ambulance, and a chaplain arrived at the scene., just north of Van Dorn Street.

Lincoln Police said for safety reasons, 27th Street is closed from Sheridan Boulevard to Bradfield Drive for “an extended period of time”.

 

Multiple crews from LFR, Lincoln Parks and Rec, and Lincoln Police are on the scene cleaning up the area.
