Southeast Community College Board approves President's contract
BEATRICE – The head of a Nebraska community college has a new contract. The Southeast Community College Board approved the new agreement with college President, Dr. Paul Illich.
The new five-year agreement sets a first-year annual salary of $287,069. The agreement begins July 1st and extends through June 30th, 2027.
Approval of the agreement followed a review of progress meeting goals and objectives of the community college.
A five-member Executive Board team reviewed comparisons with other community college presidents. Chairman of that team, board member Chuck Byers said Illich’s contributions to the success of the college are outstanding….in the areas of affordable, relevant academic programs, facility modernization and leadership style…. accomplishing goals without increasing tuition the past three years and not increasing the property tax rate for four consecutive years.
Illich was also credited for efforts to keep the college open during the coronavirus pandemic, so students would not face delays in their graduation.
Illich was recognized nationally when he was selected to receive the 2022 Change Leadership Impact Award from Ellucian.
He was named president of Southeast Community College on July 1, 2014, after serving McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, for 17 years.
