DAVENPORT, NE — A Natural Resources District (NRD) that oversees parts of central and southeast Nebraska is keeping a close eye on water demand as hot temperatures continue.

The Little Blue NRD's Public Water Project announced a stage one water watch Tuesday.

As part of the water watch, the public is being asked to voluntarily reduce water for outdoor use and be efficient with use for indoor purposes. Examples include, only washing full loads of clothing and dishes and limiting the length of showers.

Officials hopes this heightens the public's awareness of water demand and helps maintain integrity of its system.

"The project will monitor the water supply daily and curtail activities such as end-of-line flushing," the Little Blue NRD said in a statement.

Anyone with questions is asked to call the Little Blue NRD at 402-364-2145.

The Little Blue NRD oversees 1.5 million acres of land in Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Webster, Nuckolls, Thayer and Jefferson counties.
