OMAHA, Neb. -- A 38-year-old Omaha man will serve prison time for possessing a stolen firearm and distribution of marijuana.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Russell announced that Matthew Alan Stueve was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Omaha. Stueve will serve two years in prison. There is no parole in the federal system. After his release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.

On November 18, 2019, a confidential informant working at the direction of law enforcement purchased a stolen Colt model Trooper MK III .357 magnum revolver, ammunition, and close to 50 grams of marijuana from Stueve. The transaction took place in a parking lot located at an address on W. Maple Road in Omaha. The purchase was video and audio recorded and Stueve was seen and heard telling the informant that the firearm is stolen while providing the informant with a backpack containing the firearm, ammunition, and marijuana in exchange for payment.

This case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department.
