BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested a motorist Wednesday night for driving under suspension and drug offenses.

An officer observed a silver van southbound near 6th and Tonka Lane at about 9 p.m. with no front license plate, but with a rear plate.  After the vehicle pulled into the lot of a restaurant, a male walked into the restaurant to place an order.

The officer directed the man outside and he was unable to produce identification, telling the officer he thought his license was valid.

A records check showed the man’s driver’s license was expired and suspended…and that there were eleven past convictions of driving under suspension between 2010 and 2019.  The man’s license was suspended in March of 2021, with no reinstatement date.

A search of the vehicle turned up a glass pipe with residue and a small zip-lock bag of a substance that field-tested positive, as methamphetamine…both within reach of the driver’s seat.

Arrested was 32-year-old Nickolas Weidner for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia…and driving under suspension.
