Family sues driver convicted of deadly I-80 crash

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Officials said that the family of a father and son killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 80, near Lincoln, is suing the driver who was convicted of causing the crash and the company he worked for.
The two victims were traveling together in the vehicle and were both killed in the crash.
The accident involved a Florida trucker, 50-year-old Yorkwind Crawford, last September.
Crawford was arrested following the multi-vehicle crash on September 4, 2021.
Crawford was convicted for causing the crash that killed Mark Kaipust and, Taylor, his seven-year-old son.
In late February, the family filed the lawsuit against Crawford following his no-contest plea.
Attorneys for the company and the driver are trying to get the case moved.
They want it held in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska instead of Lancaster County.
