BEATRICE - The Southeast Community College Board of Governors is seeking applications to fill a vacant District 4 seat on the Board.  Recently, long-time board member James Garver, of Lincoln, passed away.  He had served as an SCC Board member for twelve years.

State law provides for the remaining members of the Board to fill the vacancy for the balance of the unexpired term, which ends on January 5th, 2023.

Applications are being sought from interested persons.  Applicants must be a registered voter and a resident of the Southeast Community College 15-county service area for the prior six months.  The applicant must also have resided in District 4 over the past six months and continue to be a resident of the district following appointment.

The person selected cannot be an elected or appointed member of any other education-related board and cannot be an employee of Southeast Community College.   Maps showing District 4 boundaries can be found on the Lancaster County Election Commissioner’s website.

Persons wishing to apply for the board position should complete and submit an electronic application by the end of Friday, April 22nd.  Interviews of candidates selected as finalists will be conducted at a special meeting of the SCC Board, to be held May 17th at the Southeast Community College Dunlap Center, on the Milford Campus.

Persons interested in being a candidate for the next District 4 term on the SCC Board should contact the Nebraska Secretary of State office.  The term begins in January of 2023.
