BEATRICE – Police responding to a disturbance at a Beatrice grocery store, arrested two people as suspects in a local burglary.

Police were summoned to the Sunmart Store along East Court Street at around 10:20 p.m., Thursday…..a report of a disturbance involving customers at a coin machine.  Police spoke with a man who said his wife was exchanging coins earned as tips, into cash…when they were assaulted by their aunt.

Police were provided information that the man and his wife were suspected in a burglary that happened earlier in the day.

Police transported the man to police headquarters, where he allegedly told officers he and his wife has driven to his grandmother’s house to commit a, “spur of the moment burglary.”  The man said he had opened a screen door and pushed open a front door, going inside and taking over $726 in coins.  During questioning, a search revealed the man to be in possession of a white container with about 45 Alprazolam pills…for which he could not provide proof of a prescription.

At the grocery store, the man’s wife was holding a purse filled with coins.  She maintained the coins were tips she received while working as a waitress.

Police arrested 32-year-old William Wilson of Beatrice on suspicion of burglary, theft and possession of a controlled substance.  Authorities also arrested 36-year-old Sue Buchheimer for aiding and abetting burglary and theft.
