Milton J Sargent

Milton J Sargent, 90, of Steinauer passed away on December 31, 2021, at Colonial Acres of Humboldt. He was born on November 14, 1931, at Fullerton, NE to Foster and Edith (Houston) Sargent and grew up in the Crab Orchard area. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54. He married Marcia June Barden on March 17, 1957, at the Vesta United Methodist Church in Vesta. Milton farmed near Crab Orchard before moving to the farm near Lewiston in 1959, he retired in 1999.
He was a member of Christ Community Church of Beatrice, Dairy Herd Improvement Assiociation (DHIA), past member of The Grange, and served on the Pawnee County Ag Board. He enjoyed horses, playing with his grandchildren, reading and studying the bible.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Marcia of Steinauer; two sons, David (Janice) Sargent of Beatrice , Daniel (Terri) Sargent of Lewiston; two daughters, Julie (Don) Schuller of Wymore, Linda Sargent and fiancé Scott Kimes of Beatice; grandchildren, Angela (Kurt) Agena, Michelle (Phil) Reinke, Amber Sargent, Lindsey (Mark) Brown, Shawna (Ryan) Lowe, Crystal (Jeremy) Walter, Brian (Mikala) Denton, Cara (Nick) Thomas, Macy Kimes, Tara (Coby) Houston, Zachary Alm ; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, Bryce Sargent of Attica, KS , and Darrel (Darlene) Sargent of Cottonwood, AZ; sister-in-law, LaVeta Sargent of Lincoln and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Edith (Houston) Sargent; sisters, Leona (Durwood) Little, Edna (Virgil) Otto, Edith (Ervin) Topp; brother, Delbert Sargent; daughter-in-law, Catherine Sargent; parents-in-law, Harold and Marjorie Barden; sister-in-law, Marlene Sargent; brother-in-law, Robert West.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Christ Community Church in Beatrice with Pastor Jack Magness officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. at the church on Friday. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. and at Christ Community Church from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family will meet and greet relatives and friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30P.M. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice with military honors conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard and Bitting-Norman Post # 27 of the American Legion of Beatrice.
