Richard "Rick" R. Strunk

Richard R. Strunk passed away September 14, 2021 at the Jefferson Community Health and Life hospital in Fairbury, Nebraska at the age of 70 years. He was born December 16, 1950 to Emil and Hilda (Hueske) Strunk in Steele City, Nebraska. Richard attended District 4 country school and Fairbury Jr-Sr Highschool. In 1975 he married Carol Hermann. To this union they had two children.
After, high school he worked for a local farmer until he was drafted into the Army in February 1971 and was stationed in Germany. He served till October 1972. Through the years he farmed, worked at Stantons, Hermsmeier Bros., Dean Bramhall and Larry McBride. Then he retired in 2014. Afterwards he continued work for local people.One of his favorite hobbies was his Oliver tractor collection. His first tractor that he purchased was an Oliver 770. He enjoyed restoring any Oliver tractor and would spend hours talking tractors to anyone. He was also a member of the Jansen Rural Fire Department and the Jansen American Legion.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Jo, parents Emil and Hilda, parents in laws Richard & Ann Samland, and Delbert & Ruth Martin. Sister Marcella Harper and brother Gerald Strunk. Sister in law Susan Strunk, brother in laws Clark Curtis, Dale English, Herman Harper, and Harvey Rosenthal. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Ryan (Marla) Strunk, grandsons Dawson and Clayton Strunk of Hollenberg, KS. Brother Larry (Linda) Strunk, sisters Joyce Curtis, Carolyn English, Suzie (Calvin) Weichel, brother in laws Ricky (Jane) Samland, Charles Samland, sister in laws Sharon Rosenthal and Deb Santee and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Services will be held Saturday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul UCC by Jansen, Ne. The family will greet friends on Friday, September 17 from 6 – 7:30 at the funeral home. Memorial will be at the family’s
choice.
