Lynn E. McKee

Lynn Edward McKee, 71, of Adams, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021 at his home in Adams. Lynn was born on December 1, 1949 in Tallahassee, Florida to Edward and Dorothy (Peavy) McKee, the oldest of five children. He graduated from Lincoln East High School in 1969 where he was a standout athlete and crowned Homecoming King. Lynn played football for Chadron State his freshman year.
Lynn married his wife, Mari Jungck of Rushville, on July 16, 1971. They would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. Together they had two sons, Edward and Richard. They lived briefly in Chadron, as well as Lincoln, but raised their sons in Buffalo Grove, IL. Lynn loved coaching his sons’ youth football teams and didn’t miss a high school football game in which they played. Lynn had four grandchildren that were his greatest joy. He loved attending their activities, taking them shopping and out to lunch. Lynn also enjoyed cooking and loved making big holiday dinners for his family. He was the ultimate Santa Claus.
Lynn was a successful salesman, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a family man. He started his career in Chicago working for Centel in National Accounts. Eventually running the division. He left in 1991 as the draw to return to Nebraska was too great.
Lynn purchased a portion of Interact Incorporated in 1991 and immediately grew the company. During its time over 100 employees in Lincoln and Austin, TX worked for Interact, employing over 60 Software and Hardware engineers during its peak. Lynn sold the company after 25 years to begin his retirement.
Lynn enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and any other activity that involved having fun with his friends, family, clients, or co-workers. At Interact Lynn could often be spotted on the terraces across from the Cornhusker entertaining clients, employees, and friends. Lynn had a bigger than life personality and would often have the Husker band, Herbie Husker, Husker Cheerleaders, Lil-Red, and even key Husker players show up spontaneously. There was never a dull moment as Lynn found enjoyment in entertaining and celebrating.
Lynn retired in Adams where he ran the local bar and grill for nine years and loved spending time with the community. Pitch tournaments and football games were staple events at his establishment. Lynn also spent his retirement years fishing with his brother Gary and enjoying his lake house. He continued to entertain family and friends and was known for his spectacular Fourth of July firework displays. Adams became his adopted hometown where he and Mari developed wonderful friendships.
Lynn was also involved in several philanthropic organizations. He gave generously to organizations such as Saint Judes, Lighthouse, Husker Athletics, and Freeman High School.
