DUI Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Louisiana Man

BEATRICE – A Beatrice Police officer conducting a traffic stop for alleged drunk driving ended up arresting a passenger instead, who fought with the officer.
At around 8:20 p.m., Sunday, the officer pulled over a pickup to conduct a DUI investigation. Three other occupants were in the vehicle. After asking the driver to exit the vehicle, the other occupants began to get out of the truck.
The officer ordered them back in the vehicle, but a front seat passenger ignored the order and said he would not get back in the vehicle.
The man pushed the officer away, but the officer took him to the ground. A second officer arrived on scene as the first officer was working to get control of the passenger. The passenger was brought to his feet in handcuffs.
As the officer returned to deal with the driver, the passenger allegedly began kicking the other officer, not allowing that officer to close a patrol car door. The officer conducting the traffic stop then used a drive-stun with a taser to get the passenger to comply.
38-year-old Joshua McCall, of Jonesville, Louisiana was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault of a police officer, obstructing and resisting arrest.
