Wanda L. Shultz
Wanda L. Shultz passed from this world on Saturday, 5/16/20. Wanda was a lifelong resident of Fairbury, NE. She found her life’s love here in Fairbury, Charles L. Shultz, and was married in Fairbury in the Old Methodist Church on August 12, 1951. They were married for 54 years. Wanda was a devoted wife and mother to three children. She was always there to help her family in any way possible.
Wanda was a longtime member of the Fairbury United Methodist family, belonging to the Methodist Women, her Circle, she was a Sunday School Teacher, and a very active member of the Choir. Wanda had a wonderful voice and enjoyed her time with the choir and also sang for dozens of funerals. As a mother she passed her love of music along to her children.
She was involved in all aspects of her family’s interests including livestock, fishing, hunting, hunting dogs, and her cats. She dearly loved her Cats, including Tom, Ching, Miss Priss, and Buddy. They all were exceptional companions, but especially Buddy after Mom was alone. She was always telling us what great company he was.
Charles and Wanda enjoyed retirement and especially the traveling. They were part of a camping group that enjoyed traveling around the area and state, volunteering at functions and parks.
Wanda is survived by son Douglas (Donna) of Fairbury, son Jeffery (Colleen) of Lincoln, NE., and daughter Susan (Douglas) Mitchel of Mineral Wells, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Mikaleh (Anthony) Esquitin, Avery and Maggie, St, Paul, NE. Hunter Shultz, Osborne, KS. Hillary (Shawn) Pospisil, Savannah and Jackson, Ariel (Zach) Jennings, Sawyer and Elijah all of Lincoln, NE. Tarah (JJ) Craddock, Derek and Daxton of Amarillo, TX. Tyler (Danielle) Mitchem, Logan of Carollton, TX. Sister in-law Katie Melvin of Colby, KS., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents Robert Dorr Melvin and Clare Edith (Critchlow) Melvin, Brothers Emerson, Dorr, Max, Lyle (infant), and sister Dixie.
Family and friends will miss Wanda but can rest assured that her great faith has carried her beyond death and into God’s Kingdom.
Due to the current pandemic the funeral will be immediate family only with a celebration of life TBA at a later time. Public Viewing will be 9 – 9 May 20th, 2020 at the Funeral home. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
