Elizabeth (Beth) Weiner

Elizabeth Jean Corbin Torrey was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on August 18, 1944 to Jack E and Ilma Jean Corbin. She died on March 7, 2020 in Fairbury Nebraska at age 75. She was baptized in Fairbury on June 10, 1945.
She spent her childhood in Fairbury, Nebraska and Cheyenne, Wyoming. She attended Fairbury High School and graduated in 1962.
She was united in marriage to Larry Wayne Weiner on September 3, 1967 in Fairbury. Shortly thereafter they moved to San Diego California where they lived for 10 years where she worked as a dental assistant.
In 1977, they returned to Fairbury where they owned and operated the Brunswick Tavern for approximately 10 years. They then moved again to San Diego for a short time. Upon returning home to Fairbury in 1987, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Darrell Hull, as an assistant for Optometrist Dr. Bruce Ackerman, and at the Fairbury city offices.
Beth was married to the love of her life for 30 years. She lovingly cared for Larry for years as he struggled with health issues. Larry passed away on February 22, 1998 after a lengthy illness. Beth and Larry dearly loved their entire family and spent much time enjoying them, along with many, many friends. Their home was always a welcome place. During Beth’s entire life she was always surrounded by animals of all kinds, from ducks, birds, rabbits and especially dogs and cats. She was devoted to their care and welcomed many beloved pets to their family.
Survivors include her brother Tim (Sherry) Torrey, Fairbury, Nebraska and sister, Becky (Dick) Fischer, Friend, Nebraska, sisters-in-law, Rozella Beu, Adams, Nebraska, and Donna (Mike) Staggs, La Mesa, California, and 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 12 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews.
Proceeded in death by her loving husband, Larry Weiner, father Jack Corbin, mother Jean Corbin Torrey, step-father Kenneth Torrey and brother-in-law, Leonard Beu, niece Brenda Roesler Dunn and great nephew, Luke Johnson.
Services will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury. Memorials will go to Fairbury Elks Lodge or Capital City Humane Society. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
