BEATRICE – No serious injuries resulted from a two-vehicle collision late Monday afternoon, in west Beatrice.

Police and Beatrice Fire and Rescue personnel were sent to the West Court and Highway Four junction, at around four p.m.

Beatrice Police Sergeant Wes Henning says a westbound van struck the back of a westbound pickup, pushing it across the intersection and ending up, off the northwest corner.

The male drivers of the van and pickup were not seriously injured….and there were no injuries to a woman and three children, in the van.  No one was transported for medical treatment.

The driver of the van was 37-year-old Arron Vinsonhaler, of Beatrice.  The driver of the pickup was 60-year-old Mark Russell, of Beatrice.  Witnesses told police the van did not slow down, before it struck the back of the pickup….which was stopped at a red traffic light.  Vinsonhaler was ticketed for negligent driving.

The pickup was driven from the scene afterward, but the van had to be towed away.   The impact activated the van’s airbags.

The collision briefly blocked westbound lanes at the intersection, but traffic continued to make it through the area while police and fire were on scene.
