Carol A. Criner
Carol Anne (Finlayson) Criner, 78 of Endicott, Nebraska passed away September 24th, 2019 at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury NE. She was born April 24, 1941 in Linn KS to Clifford and Hilda (Schuette) Finlayson. She married Lorren James Criner on March 26, 1960 and to this union four children were born, Debra, Dennis, James and Michael.
After a several lengthy hospitalizations followed by the death of her youngest son Michael, Carol decided she wanted to become a nurse. In spite of having three small children at home, she enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nursing program through Lincoln Technical College, Bryan Hospital and made the long drive from Odell NE to Lincoln Ne for classes. She proudly graduated as an LPN in 1971. During her nursing career she worked at Beatrice Medical Clinic, Lincoln Surgical Group and at Jefferson County Hospital. Carol loved her time working in surgery at Jefferson County Hospital the most and was very proud of nursing career.
She was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She will be remembered for her love of family and the many meals she cooked from that love. She enjoyed riding horses in her younger years and in later years loved joining her husband in his horse drawn wagon on trail rides, or just riding in country side.
She is survived by her daughter Debra & husband Don Sutton, son Dennis & wife Stacey Criner, son Jim & wife Mary Criner, brothers Delvin & Sharon Finlayson, Jim & Maxine Finlayson, and Don & Colleen Finlayson as well as sisters-in-law Wanda & Jerry Talbot, Cathy & Charles Cumpston, and Mary Criner. She has seven grandchildren Nick & Sarah Sutton, Amanda & Joel Kemmerer, Melissa & Luke Bennett, Amber Criner, Jory Criner, Andrew & Erin Criner and Adam Criner as well as 8 great grandchildren, Isabella, Miley, Cope, Lane, Grace, Cord, Addilyne, and Ember with her ninth great grandchild expected in October.
She was proceeded in death by her father Clifford, mother Hilda, father-in-law Ivan, mother-in-law Wilma, husband Lorren (Jim/Fatso) Criner , her infant son Michael and brothers-in-law, William (Bill)Criner and Kent (Buzz) Criner.
We are honoring her request for no funeral services but will be having a public celebration of Carol’s life on Monday September 30th from 5:00-8:00pm at her son’s establishment, Criner’s Corner in Endicott. Memorials to family’s choice.
