Ronny Aden, 83 years of age, of Cortland passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. He was born on July 14, 1942 in Beatrice to Gerd and Christina (Waltke) Aden. Ronny graduated from Adams High School and then a business school in Lincoln. He served his country in the United States Army as a clerk typist with payroll in Alaska and was a received a Quilt of Valor in 2023. Ronny worked for Capitol Supply for 26 years and then Paramount Supply for 17 years. After retirement, Ronny spent his days driving his granddaughter and grandson on a school bus for Norris Public Schools. He was married to Karen Schmale for 31 years until her passing in 2001. While they were married, they enjoyed going to sporting events and camping with their daughter and other family members. Ronny later married Carol Gunn and they were married for 12 years until her passing in 2015. He always cherished his trip with Carol on an Alaskan Cruise before she died. He lived in Cortland since 1969 and was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church near Pickrell where he was baptized, confirmed and married. Ronny enjoyed his large garden for many years. His main passion was his motorcycle groups, supper rides, poker runs and long trips to Madison, Tulsa, Nashville, Seattle and don’t forget Sturgis. Ronny was a member of the American Legion in Cortland for over 50 years, American Legion Riders in Beatrice, Bear Creek Motorcycle Club and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. 

Ronny is survived by his daughter, Janet Aden and significant other Stacy Dorn of Cortland; grandchildren, Peyton and Preston Wieting; siblings, Kermith Aden and wife Sharon of Johnstown, Colorado, Roxie Rosenthal and husband Glen of Lincoln; mother-in-law, Rebecca Schmale of Adams; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Weverka and husband Henry of Omaha, Susan Aden of Plattsmouth; brother-in-law, Larry Schmale and wife Sue of Hickman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; spouses; brother, Arthur Aden; and father-in-law, Harvey Schmale.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Jeff Petersen officiating. Interment with military rites by the Nebraska Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Spobow Post #253 of the American Legion will follow in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery near Pickrell. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM.
