Barbara Jean (Bratt) Heusman, 75, of Falls City, formerly of Sterling, died Friday morning, April 4, 2025.  She was born on June 10, 1949 at Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968.  Barb moved to Sterling in 1972 and on May 23, 1973, she married Robert Heusman in Lincoln.  She was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling where she taught Sunday School, helped with VBS, was a member of Rebecca Circle, coordinated funeral lunches, and served as church custodian.  In 2021 she moved to Falls City and enjoyed her new home.  She attended the Good News Assembly of God Church in Falls City.  She enjoyed reading, fishing, and camping. 

Survivors include her sons, Robert (Wendy) Heusman and Kevin (Marissa) Heusman; daughters, Kellie Swartz, Teresa “Trish” (Jeff) Bessey, and Jayda Furtado; son-in-law, Benito Aguilar; grandchildren, Trevor, Bailey, Kevin, KayLee, Alexa, Jadeyn, Jeriah, Eliana, Savana, Nolan, Nia, Gage, and Baron; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jill McAuliffe; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Heusman, who died on February 23, 2012; her daughter, Kristi Aguilar, who died on October 9, 2016; step-son, Darin Bouc; parents, Marvin and Mary “Pearl” Bratt; brother, Arthur “Dale” Bratt; sisters, Kathy (Leon) Van Slyke and Sharon Budt; mother-in-law, Laverta Emshoff; brother-in-law, Mike McAuliffe.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Good News Assembly of God Church in Falls City with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Interment will be at the Nemaha Cemetery of Nemaha at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family’s choice for future designation. www.foxfuneralhome.net   Arrangements entrusted to Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling.
